Iron-rich foods include shellfish, meat, legumes, green vegetables, and nuts. Absorption rates differ between heme and non-heme iron. Taking iron with vitamin C increases absorption, but only about 10% of dietary iron is absorbed, so supplementation may be needed if deficient.
